Travis Lee Fuhrman 53 Of Long Beach California Formerly Of Glasgow Montana

December 16, 1963 — September 12, 2017

Travis Lee Fuhrman, 53, of Long Beach, CA, left our world on September 12, 2017. Travis was born December 16, 1963 in Glasgow, MT to Harry (Jim) and Phyllis Fuhrman, and was raised on the family farm in Larslan, MT. He attended Opheim School and graduated as valedictorian in 1982.  He was selected as the Montana Presidential Scholar and was flown to Washington, D.C. to receive honors.  He then attended Carroll College in Helena, Montana, where he graduated with honors and a BA in Business & Public Administration. He earned his MBA in Finance from the University of California – Irvine.

Travis was not your ordinary child. He was incredibly smart and articulate from a very early age.  He loved numbers and could multiply three-digit numbers in his head before first grade.  Instead of Dr. Seuss, he read the Farmer’s Almanac, Guinness Book of World Records, and Richey Rich, and could recite all presidents, vice presidents, and their parties as a young child.  He continued his love for numbers and after college began working for the FDIC, and later worked for Downey Savings & Loan, Option 1 Mortgage, and was with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for the last 13 years.

Travis was a kind, caring, and sensitive soul with a huge heart. His family, friends, and his animals meant everything to him.  He had a great sense of humor, and even during those times when he was struggling, he always had a joke or story to cheer somebody up.  He had an infectious laugh that warmed your heart and made you laugh as hard as he did.  Travis was a wonderful human being and would give anything he had to someone in need. His generosity and compassion extended to the homeless, and at Christmas he passed out blankets and other items to the homeless throughout Long Beach.  He also volunteered many hours at the Long Beach Rescue Mission doing “KP” duty.  Over the years he gave a home to many animals including snakes, rats, chinchillas, and dogs.

Certain times of the year were very special to Travis. His favorite vacation was going to the farm to see his mother and helping her with her garden and yard work.  He loved planning costumes every year for Halloween, and they were eagerly anticipated by his friends, family, and especially his co-workers.  They were always unique and amazing!

Our Travis is no longer struggling. He is at peace and the pain he endured here on earth is no more.  He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, friend, and co-worker, and touched so many lives during his time with us.  He will be forever in our hearts.

Travis was preceded in death by his father, Harry (Jim) Fuhrman, and his nephew, Damon Soper. He leaves behind his mother, Phyllis Fuhrman, his sisters Tara Andren (Dale) Ebersviller of Billings, Tanya Fuhrman of Santa Maria, CA, Kim Madler (John Vermulm & family, Cut Bank) of Larslan, and Penny Shipp of Larslan, as well as nephew Tanner (Katy) Andren, and nieces Alison (Kelly) Pusley & family, Ashley (CJ) Kemmis & family, and Kelsey Madler (Tim Shehan).  He is also survived by his “furry family” of 2 dogs, Lola and Cocopuff, and 2 chinchillas, Shadow & JJ.

A memorial service will be held on September 30, 2017 at the Bell Mortuary in Glasgow, MT at 3:00 PM. A reception will follow services at 4:00 PM at the Glasgow Elks.
