Sarah Charlotte Alma Bryant, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on October 5, 2017 in Glasgow, MT. Sarah was born September 28, 1922 to Swedish immigrants Henning and Ada Emanuelson, the youngest of six children. Sarah was born on the family homestead 16 miles east of Malta, MT. She attended school in the small railroad town of Bowdoin, MT. When that school closed she finished her schooling in Saco, MT where she made many friends. While attending school Sarah made her living as a telephone operator to pay for her room and board. As a young teen she was thrown from a horse, leaving her with lifelong pain. While in Saco, she met Harold Y. Bryant. They married in April of 1942 and had two children- Charlotte Marie in 1944 and Thomas Harold in 1943.
Sarah and Harold spent most of their lives in Fort Peck. Sarah worked at J.C. Penney in Glasgow and when Harold retired from the Army Corp. of Engineers, they moved to Great Falls, MT, where she continued working for J.C. Penney. When she retired she had worked for JC Penney for about 35 years. After Harold passed away, Sarah moved back to Ft. Peck until 2011 when she moved into Valley View Nursing Home. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Harold; brothers Gus, Carl, Verner, Harold (Margaret) Emanuelson and sister Dorothy Scheffelmaer.
Sarah is survived by her children Tom (Irene) Bryant and Charlotte (Larry) Unger; nephews Charles (Ranelle) Emanuelson and Jens Olesen; nieces Ada Minjie and Elaine Gilman ; grandchildren Kevin, Darryn (Carol), Kyle (Cindy) Bryant, Christa (Bill) Wagner, David Unger and Christine Wright; Great grandchildren Spencer, Dane, Henley, Maddox and Murphy Bryant and Sarah and Brendan Wagner. Sarah will be remembered most for her awesome chocolate chip cookies, the beautiful flowers she grew and her love of Christmas. She will forever be in our hearts until we meet again.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5-7 PM at the Bell Mortuary in Glasgow, MT. Sarah’s funeral service is Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 1 PM at the Bell Mortuary in Glasgow, MT. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
