Heaven got a very Special Man on April 19, 2024, Ronie W. Shumway, age 81, passed away at Billings Clinic, Montana with his wife by his side.
Ronie W. Shumway was born on January 18, 1943 to Frank and Vera (Marmon) Shumway in Wolf Point, Montana. He attended and played sports at Wolf Point Public School where he graduated in 1963. Right out of school his cousin George and him went and enlisted in the Navy. After he was discharged from the service, he decided to go MSU in Bozeman, Montana to pursue a teaching degree in Math. While going to school he there he met his wife, Linda. December 18,1971 they were married in a small ceremony. In 1972, they ended up in Glasgow and he taught Math at Glasgow High School until he retired. After retirement he ended up going to Mountain Village Alaska for six months. He enjoyed it up there and learned a lot about their culture while he was there. When it came time for him to leave the people were sad to see him go. Once back in Glasgow he got a job with Montana Department Transportation and worked there for 20 years and retired in 2023. He was everyone’s teacher, I am sure, at some point. From Math, Drivers Education, and as a Coach he gave a lot of his time to students. Any time a student would say “I can’t do this”, he would make the time to work with them. Failing wasn’t in his vocabulary. There is truly not enough space or words to describe him. He was truly an amazing Man to so many people will be deeply missed.
