Roger Allen Davis Sr., 77, passed away on Sunday evening, September17, 2017 at his residence in St. Marie, MT.
He was born October 18, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Fredrick and Eleanor (Rieske) Davis. He grew up in Rockford, Illinois with his younger sister, Sharon Davis- Grimmett, who preceded him in death and his brother, Terry Davis.
Roger joined the Air Force at the age of seventeen years old in 1956. He spent his career teaching in the Physiological Training Unit. He was an instructor for student pilots in teaching simulated flying. He also taught parachute training, desert and jungle survival. He was a noted desert survival teacher who set up displays in a natural environment. His later years in the military provided him with the opportunity to be an Air Force Recruiter in the panhandle of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He always met and exceeded his quota for enlisting recruits.
Roger was the father of three sons and three daughters as noted in the following; daughters Deborah Davis of Dalton,Georgia, Teresa Davis of Birmingham, Alabama, and Rachel Etheridge of St. Marie, Montana and sons Roger Davis Jr. of Great Falls, Montana, Robert Davis of Billings, Montana and Aaron Davis who preceded him in death. He was also survived by 14 grandchildren.
Roger was an active member for 54 years of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He always had a firm handshake and a humorous personality.
Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Bell Mortuary. Graveside service will take place in Sheridan, Wyoming at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday September 21, 2017. Condolences may be left at bellmortuarymontana.com. Memorials in Roger’s name can be given to the Relief Fund for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
