Phyllis M. Dahl

August 10, 1953 — June 29, 2023

Phyllis M. Dahl’s family will receive friends from 3-5 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at the Bell Mortuary.

“And when great souls die, after a period, peace blooms.” Phyllis Marie Dahl, of Glasgow, Montana, joined those souls on June 29, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Phyllis rarely complained and never stopped fighting, so it would be wrong to say that she lost the battle. Phyllis was born on August 10, 1953, in Wolf Point, Montana. She was the second of four children born to Burton and Bendinie Curtiss Lingle.

Phyllis grew up on the family farm south of the Fort Peck Spillway in McCone County. She attended the Illmont School until the eighth grade. After the death of her father, the family moved to Circle and she graduated from Circle High School in 1972. While there, she learned how to do upholstery, which became her lifelong side hustle! She moved to Glasgow with her daughter Leta and continued to do upholstery at Earl’s Body Shop for many years. This is where she met her future husband, Keith Dahl. They were married on September 14, 1974, and later divorced. To this union, their son Jason was born in 1977.

Phyllis worked from home for a few years then went to work for Gordon’s/Reynolds and after nearly 20 years, where she made many friends and connections, she decided to make a change. She then went to work at the Francis Mahon Deaconess Hospital in the Housekeeping Department. Until her retirement in 2018, she was privileged to work with her sister, Berta and make lifelong friends with many other wonderful employees at the hospital.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Phyllis. She loved the peacefulness of the farm and enjoyed roaming the badlands with her family. She never shied away from a challenging crossword puzzle and if you ever stopped by for a visit, you were sure to catch an episode of The Price is Right, one of her favorite crime shows or Golf!

Her patience, kindness and fun-loving sense of humor will be deeply missed by many.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Burton and Bendinie (Curtiss) Lingle and son, Jason.

She is survived by her daughter, Leta (Chuck) Godwin of Glasgow, grandchildren, Garrett, Laci, Cody(Natalie), great-granddaughter Ciara of Glasgow, and Dillon of Mesa, Arizona. Sisters Rosalie (Jim) Bryan of Circle, Berta (Don) Gorder of Nashua and a brother Jay (Kalee) Curtiss of Frenchtown. Many extended aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family will receive friends Sunday, July 9th, 2023, from 3-5 pm at the Bell Mortuary in Glasgow, Montana. Burial will take place at a later date at the family farm. Condolences may be left for the family at bellmortuarymontana.com
