Paul Michael Moore or “Stretch” as everyone knew him passed away December 29, 2026 at his home in Hinsdale, Montana.
He was born December 22, 1960 in Great Falls, Montana to John and Adeline (Matteucci) Moore. He graduated from CMR High School in Great Falls, Montana.
In 1980, he entered the army and received many military decorations including: Expert Badge with M16 Bar and Marksman Badge with Hand Grenade Bar.
Stretch spent many years working for the Mogan Ranch as a mechanic and ranch hand. He worked for Cal Bunk at Cal’s Napa as a mechanic. He enjoyed his time there and looked at Cal as family. Cal became know as “Grandpa Cal” to our kids. Later, he owned the Saco Conoco Gas Station and ran a mechanic repair shop and wrecker service. He loved owning his own business. Later he moved it to Chris Christensen’s shop.
Stretch was known near and far for his knives and knife making skills. He took such pride in his work and was very picky with the details. If a knife didn’t come out to his standards he wouldn’t sell it. These went to Jenn and Debbie, they have a box and kitchen drawers full of them, to remember him by. He and Virgil Vaupel always took so much pride in creating knives and sheaths. He donated many knives to his favorite charities for fund raisers: the local Walleyes Unlimited, the local Warriors on the Water, and Longmire Days in Buffalo, Wyoming to name a few. Another charity that was close to his hear was Fishing 4 All run by his lifetime friend John Sowell, they were like brothers.
Stretch loved hunting and fishing and was happiest when on the bank of the river fishing. His greatest accomplishment, which by the way is hanging on the wall, was his drum that was just shy of a state record.
He married Debora “Debbie” Nelson on December 1, 1989. He enjoyed living on the farm and especially enjoyed the pigs they raised. In December 2008, he along with Debbie and daughter, Jennifer moved into Hinsdale, where he lived until is passing.
Stretch is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughter, Shaundel Alexander, whom he always considered her is daughter of Glasgow; son Christopher (Jessica) Moore and granddaughter, Layton of Glasgow; daughter, Jennifer Moore of Hinsdale. His brother, Gary (Sherri) Swartz of Great Falls, Montana; sister, Judy (Gary) Thorn of Spokane, Washington, numerous nieces and great-nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents John and Adeline Moore, and niece Nicole “Nicki” Thorn.
A memorial service is planned for 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 4th, 2026 at the American Legion Hall in Hinsdale, Montana, with Pastor Doris Tollefson officiating. Please join the family for a time of sharing memories over coffee and cookies to following service.
