Lawrence Black Dog, 78, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Culbertson, MT.
Lawrence was born November 14, 1938 in Poplar, the son of the Late James and Mary Black Dog. He lived his life in Fort Kipp and Brockton. He attended Brockton School; graduated and attended Haskell and later on he attended Billings Technical School. In the 70’s he worked for the tribes. He worked for Bernard Moran Construction. Later on he went to work for Brockton School as a bus driver for many years and he also was on the Brockton School Board for a couple of years. He liked to attend sporting events to watch his grandchildren, the Pow Wow and loved to travel. Lawrence was a Brockton Warrior Fan, he was known by everyone as “Chief”.
Dad met the love of his life, Martha Black Dog, in the 1960’s and to this union cam two sons and two daughters; Bobby, LaVonne, LaDonna and Willie.
He is survived by his children Bobby, LaVonne, LaDonna and Willie (Mary); grandchildren Amanda, Chasity, Eric, Mary, Lynn, Evan, Sean, Courtney, Emily, Nancy, and Tracy; great-grandchildren Brooke, Jazmine, Aidyn, Geoff, Adam, Justin, Winter, Marshall, Kingston, and Hiro; brother Maynard of Poplar; his Aunt Loretta of Ft. Kipp; adopted sister, Ethelene White Hawk of Brockton; adopted brother, Adrian (Peggy) Ireland of Williston, ND; his grandchildren, Madeline Raab of Culbertson and Casey Weston of Wolf Point; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and surviving are families of White Eagle, Four Bears, First, Bearcubs, Long Hairs, Perry, Weeks, Little Heads, Jackson, Archdale, Smoker and if we left any one out we apologize, we have a big family and his many friends.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; both parents, his grandchildren, Adam and Christopher; and great-grandchild, Carmoon Black Dog.
