Karen Lou (Mullen) Hanvold of Glasgow, Montana passed away at the age of 87, surrounded by her loved ones at her home.

Karen Lou Mullen was born on April 21, 1938, to Thomas R. Mullen and Amanda R. Hopstad in Glasgow, Montana- joining Patsy and Dick and later Yvonne, Michael, Susan and Mary Ann. She grew up with her siblings at the 6th Avenue South house- later moving to the family forever home on 2nd Avenue South. She helped on the family farm on the South Bench and on the Tampico Road. She could be found running the old McCormick Deering tractor in the field and haying with her siblings and her cousin Coleen Mullen. She was in Famers Union, 4-H and worked at Rural Electric Coop during her high school years. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1956 and then worked for the Telephone Company.

Karen was married in 1958 and later divorced. From this union her children were born, Kim, Gary, Wendy and Rick.

Karen lived in Renton, Washington working at the White Shutters and then Duffer’s Tavern where she retired from in 1999.

She moved back to Montana to be with her family to enjoy retirement and play a few games of cards. She was an active member of the First Lutheran Church. She looked forward to having her monthly luncheons with her fellow classmates and enjoyed playing with friends in her card club. She was also a member of Degree of Honor and Friends of the Pioneer Museum.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Kim Woulf and Wendy Gunn, her son-in-law Terry Gunn, her sisters: Yvonne Cole and Susan Henderson, sister-in-law, Pat Stein, her grandchildren: Jimmy Brown, Geoffrey Woulf, Trisha, Krystal and Jacob Hanvold, Troy Gunn, Willy Hanvold and Donny Brabeck, five great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Service will be held at the First Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025. A time to share memories and coffee and cookies will be served following the service in the basement of the church. Burial will follow about 2:30 at the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow, Montana.
