Elmer “Red” Whitten Jr.

August 26, 1957 — June 23, 2015

Elmer E. Whitten (Red), of Nashua, Montana, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the age of 57.

Red was born to parents Elmer and Mary Whitten on August 26, 1957 in Canyon, Texas.  He was the oldest of three boys and attended Canyon High School.  On March 29, 1986 Red married Connie Murch.  The couple had four children.

Red worked as a self-employed drywall finisher, at BNSF, and gunsmithing until he was diagnosed with lung and brain cancer in 2013.

Red enjoyed his children and grandchildren very much.  Red was a wonderful father and husband.  They had an awesome love and life together.  Red was a friend to everyone he met and loved to visit with all he saw.  Red was full of life and loved to joke around with everyone.  Red knew the meaning of love and life and was full of both.  He was a true southern gentleman, opening the doors for Connie and taking her arm to walk side by side with her.

Red loved going to the range to sight in guns and he loved to hunt.  Most of all he loved being with his family and playing with his grandkids.  His laughter, kindness, and smile we will always miss but never forget.

Red is survived by his wife Connie, his mother Mary Whitten of Canyon, TX, his children Michael (Erin) Myrick and their children Ashtyn, Blaine, Cade, and Davyn of Glasgow; his daughter April (Jesse) Block and their children Keigan Skolrud and Kambryn Block of Nashua; his daughter Krystal (Brian) Cahill and their son Mason Reid Cahill of Killeen, TX; and son James Whitten of Billings.  He is survived by two brothers; Erik Whitten of Canyon, TX and Evan Whitten of Dallas, TX.  Red is also survived by Connie’s parents Walt and Darlene Murch.  Red is survived by sister-in-laws Peggy Lauckner, Lori Kolstad and their families.  He is survived by a brother-in-law Dave Murch and his family as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
