Donna Rae Korman, 79, of Saco, Montana, passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 6, 2025, after a short, but courageous battle with Glioblastoma brain cancer.
Born to Herman and Josephine Breipohl in Malta, Montana, on January 21, 1946, Donna was the youngest of six children and was raised on the family farm west of Saco, graduating high school in 1964. Donna married Jay Conlon in 1966 and together they had two daughters, Jalene and Tanya. The family made their home in Billings, where Donna attended Billings Business College before working at KRTV for two years. After a brief time living in Opheim, the couple divorced, and Donna and her daughters moved back to her parents’ farm in Saco. It was there that she met Terry Korman, whom she married in 1972. Two children, Deanna and Jed, completed the family of six. The family made their home of 53 years on the Korman Ranch located between Saco and Hinsdale on the beautiful Milk River.
Donna’s greatest joy in life was her family and she treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love was a constant source of support for her children and their families throughout their lives. A devout Christian, Donna’s faith guided her throughout her life. She instilled that faith in her children and taught them the value of hard work, respect, and kindness.
Known for her talent in the kitchen, Donna was renowned for preparing delicious farm-style meals that brought everyone together around the table. Neighbors, friends, and extended family were always welcome to “stay for supper” or have a cup of coffee and whatever baked good she had on hand.
A passionate gardener, Donna always had the most beautiful lawn and grew the most amazing flower beds and vegetable garden. Her love and expertise in horticulture led her to own and operate her own greenhouse business on the family ranch for many years. Donna also worked at Patty's Greenhouse in Glasgow, Malta, and Saco, where she continued to share her love for plants and flowers with many others. As recently as a week before her diagnosis, Donna was still working part-time at the greenhouse in Saco.
In addition to her many roles at home and on the ranch, Donna also drove a rural mail route and hosted hunters and camera crew for the TV show Real Tree Outdoors for several years. Donna was an active member of the Saco Lutheran Church and the “Sew and Sews” quilting group. She was known for creating beautiful quilts, which have become cherished heirlooms for her family. Her other hobbies included reading, canning, bird watching, and following her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
Donna’s legacy is one of love, hard work, faith, and a deep connection to the community she cared for. She will be profoundly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Josephine Breipohl, and her siblings Danny, Sonny, and Carson. She is survived by her siblings, Robert and Patty; her husband of 53 years, Terry Korman; her daughters Jalene (Rod), Tanya (OD), and Deanna (Ken); her son Jed (Christal); her grandchildren Justin (Mariah), Bailey (Bryar), Nate, Payton, and Josh; and her great-grandchildren Kassidy and Cohen.
A memorial service will be held at Saco Lutheran Church at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 12, 2025, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can to the Saco Lutheran Church for the replacement of the church’s boiler (PO Box 327 Saco MT 59261). Condolences may be emailed to the family at bellmortuarymontana.com.
