Carolyn “Jo” McAllister, 73, of Glasgow, Montana, passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2025. Jo was born January 26, 1952, in Glasgow, Montana to Morris E. Anderson and Evelyn E. Nayes, and was the middle child of five. She spent part of her early childhood in Homestead, Montana, before the family returned to Glasgow. She completed her education in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1970. On February 26, 1972, Jo married the love of her life, Leroy McAllister. They shared 26 years of marriage before Leroy’s passing in 1998. Together they raised two children, Stacey and Jay, who were the pride of Jo’s life. After Leroy’s passing, Jo lived in Wolf Point, Lewistown, and later Harrison, Montana, before returning to Glasgow in spring of 2022 Jo was a passionate artist and a talented seamstress. She poured her creativity into everything she touched, and her family and friends were blessed with treasured handmade pieces and artwork. She also loved dancing and was known for making every gathering special, always ensuring that children were included with activities and fun. Her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her greatest joy, however, was being a grandmother, great-grandmother and “Dog Mom” to her faithful companion George. Time spent with them brought her endless pride, laughter, and love.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy McAllister, parents Morris and Evelyn Anderson, Sister Karen Sampson and baby brother John Dennis Anderson and mother-in-law Gladys Dalby. She is survived by her children, Stacey (Karl) Reddies of Glasgow, Montana and Jay (Jennifer) McAllister of Turner, Montana; her grandchildren: Cooper Reddies, Taylen (Josh) Schack, Chance (Shelby) McAllister, and Jacob McAllister; great-grandchildren: Madden and Harper McAllister, and Adley Schack; siblings: Morris “Butch” Anderson Jr., Rene’ (Curt) Clampitt, and Victor (Carmen) Anderson; brother-in law Lorrie Sampson; father-in-law Johnny Dalby; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of Jo’s life will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at Bell Mortuary with Pastor Seth Runner officiating, followed by a reception at the Glasgow Elks Lodge.
