Glasgow

Carolyn Ranae Flynn Lee, 71, of Glasgow, Montana died November 13, 2025, at the Valley View Nursing Home.

Carolyn Ranae Flynn Lee was born on a bitterly frigid winter day on January 17, 1954, in Poplar, Montana. Carolyn was the first child of Jay Edwin and Mary (Vandall) Flynn. Carolyn attended the Wolf Point Catholic school through the fifth grade. Her mother, Mary, then moved the family to California. It was in Colton, California where she met and married Daniel Davis. Daniel was from the State of Arkansas. Following the birth of her first child, Jason Allen Davis, the young family moved to her husband’s home state, living in Little Rock, Arkansas. When Jason was two years old Carol and family returned to California to make a home. Carol and Daniel later divorced, and Daniel returned to Arkansas.

Carol was working as a waitress when she met Danny Kelley. Danny was a long-haul trucker based out of his hometown, Montrose, Colorado. Once Danny’s employment took him to Kingston, Arizona, Carol, and Danny married. They resided in Kingston for two hot summers then relocated to Danny’s hometown, Montrose, Colorado. Carol and Danny welcomed her second child, Adam, during their time in Montrose. Carol worked as a waitress and Danny worked as a ranch hand for a local ranch. Carol was a crafty artist who could make any place a home with treasures from thrift stores and rummage sales. She was also very good with her hands; she created beautiful macrame pieces to highlight the plants she would cultivate from seed; she made them a very cozy home. Carol and Danny later divorced. She then moved her two young sons to her home state of Montana, to the Glasgow Air Force Base, eventually settling in Glasgow. Carol worked various jobs such as waitressing, short order cook at Flip Burgers, and as a clerk at the Glasgow Liquor store. Her niche, however, was the years she was employed at the Glasgow Flower and Gift shop. Her artistic ability enabled her to create many beautiful floral arrangements. There were many customers who requested her services. It was from this employment that she developed a lifelong friendship with the owner, Mary Sugg. Carol enjoyed her many years at the shop.

In the late seventies Carol met and married her life partner, David Lee. The couple loved to hunt and fish. Carol and Dave made numerous fishing stories at Fort Peck Lake! Carol brought in many “catch of the day,” of which were published in the local newspaper. Carol won a license to take down a bison in Yellowstone National Park, to the envy of her male hunting companions, she took the bison down with one shot! She was a talented cook of wild games, creating many tasty dishes with bison, elk, deer and fish species!

Carol was preceded in death by her husband David Lee, her father, Jay Edwin Flynn and mother, Mary Ernestine (Vandall) Anderson; siblings: Michael J. Flynn and Della Rae Pratt, granddaughter Stormie Lee Kelley, nephews Russell Douglas Turcotte and William Joseph Turcotte and mother-in-law Harriett Lee.

She is survived by her sons; Jason Davis of Seattle, Washington, and Adam Kelley of Glasgow; granddaughters Angel and Savanaha Kelley; siblings: Linda (Russell) Hansen and nephews Michael and Jacob Turcotte of Wolf Point, Cindy (Gene) Stellflugg and nieces Jamie Flynn and Mary Roseanna of Kennewick, Washington, David (Lorie) Watters and niece Shalan and nephew Chase Watters of Billings, Montana, Leila Guza and nephew Lincoln of Scottsdale, Arizona and Bruce Appleton and sons Tristian and Trace of Billings, Montana; nieces Lexie Flynn and Stephanie Buck Elk of Billings, Montana; sister-cousins Marie Bass, Ceceilia Solberg, Kristen Bunk and special friend Carol Butts.

Per Carol’s wishes, no local services are planned. A celebration of life will take place on Memorial Weekend of 2026 at Fort Peck Lake, all welcome to attend. Online condolences may be left for the family at bellmortuarymt.com.
