Carolyn E. Muggli

December 1, 1931 — October 29, 2024

Carolyn Estella Muggli, age 92 of Glasgow, Montana will be dearly missed. She slipped peacefully into her Father’s arms early Tuesday morning on October 29,2024 at FMDH.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Lutheran Church at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2025 with Max Knodel officiating. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorials can be sent to the Valley County Community Pool care of City of Glasgow at 314 3rd St. So. Mark attention: swimming pool committee and note it is in memory of Carolyn Muggli.

Carolyn was born on December 1, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Peter and Estella Rosin. She received her early education in the Zion Illinois school system. Lake Michigan was her playground since her family lived on a Military Rifle Range next to the lake. Marksmanship runs in the family. She completed high school In three years while remaining active in music- playing the trumpet, trombone and piano. She then attended Indiana University where she completed a Physical Education degree in three and a half years. Being intrigued with Montana, she accepted a job opportunity in Glasgow and stepped off the train in January of 1952 and started teaching. She quickly became friends with fellow teachers including Dee Wesen and Delores Gilchrist. Within two years, she met Lewis Alton Wesen and they married on June 23, 1954. Their family included 4 daughters, Dorothy, Christine, Carol and Louise. They lived on a farm west of Glasgow. Alton passed away on November 26, 1962 and Carolyn continued to maintain the farm. She later met Francis Muggli and they were married on February 4, 1967. After many years of farming and gravel business, Francis passed away October 3, 2005.

Carolyn’s interest included playing taxi for her daughters, sewing, knitting, canning and cooking. Outside the home, she could be found bowling, playing cards and having coffee with friends. In 1969, she convinced Cindy Duncan to help her start the local swim team and that swim team still continues today. She was also active in the Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and City County Planning Board.

Survivors include daughters, Dorothy Wesen Schultz (Dale), Carol Wesen Williams (Derrick), Louise Wesen Dickins (Wade Hendrickson), 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Rosin, sister-in-law Dorothy Rosin, husband Lewis Alton Wesen, daughter Christine Wesen McLees, husband Francis Muggli and nephew Robert Rosin.
